Hi Jehpin,
Its two years now I have this violin. It is fully develloped now. Has a great and sweet, melodic sound with all registers to pull! Really impressive! Was the best buy!
I just bought a Guarneri Cannone from You, I am curious if it is as good.
Greetings marty
Hallo Jehpin,
I think the violin is a good buy. When it came, the soundpost was tumbling around in the violin, which is happening with about 40% of all violins sent by post. So i had to setup the soundpost, because there is no luthier i know in Bangkok. (Perhaps there is one, but i don’t know)
I had to experiment a little with the soundpost, because I did not know the optimal position. So the sound was not perfect in the first days. The e-string had a thin and almost whispery sound. Then I read a little about soundposts in internet, and so i could imagine how to shift the soundpost to a perfect position.
Now the instrument develops a solid rich and powerful sound (really ) I put “Evah Pirazzi” strings on the violin, they have a direct response and fit to the instrument. Perhaps i will try “Obligato” one time, to get more soft qualities. I am really curious how the violin sounds in some months, it is promising.
The instrument is crafted very fine, the surface of the top was a little uneven, as if the paint is not yet dried. I polished a little, (perhaps I should not do that and only wait a little) The color of the violin is almost yellow, and differs from the picture of my computer screen which shows it in a mellow light brown like a white coffee. But thats only the surface. I am happy with the two violins i got, they have both a different, interesting personality and its fun to converse with them.
Thanks marty
