Wittner fine tuner is still one of my favourite fine tuner. I’ve compared to many of the ones made in China and India but the wittner fine tuner does not move side to side. It stays in place more easily than the other fine tuners. I now put them on most of my old violins.

Recently, I’ve come across an equally nice fine tuner. They call it the Titanium or Mberg style fine tuner. It is very lightweight. I’ve put them on some of my old violins and they change the tone a little. I might explore this a little more.

=====
Update
=====
I’ve been introduced to the factory who make the Titanium fine tuner and I’m now collecting orders from my resellers. They need 500pcs for a single order so I’ve created a page just for it. If you want to know more about this, read my page on it.

Hi….

nope. We subject the violin to “rest” for some of our higher level instruments.
We also subject it to tonewood tuning using loudspeakers for extreme high
and low notes, in our sound chambers. This gives the violin better response
and allow the violin to break in quickly. So when the player picks it up, it no
longer sound like a new violin.

Regards, JP

Hi Jehpin,

I am looking for a 1/8th size violin for my baby girl,

what do you recomend and what is a reasonable price for a child to start learning.

——— Reply ———-

Hi

actually in my opinion, the better choice would be to rent one violin from your local store,
or buy one which allows you to trade back in future for a larger violin.

This is because at this point of time, you will get better value with a used violin. A used
violin is also easier to play because the tone is already broken in. Most 1/8 violin are just
average in quality anyway. And they don’t differ much from one another.

The move from 1/8 to 1/4 could be quite soon also so you may have to change it before you
know it.

Once your girl reaches 1/2 size then you can consider buying one. As at that time, she
could be an average player, or a prodigy in the making. And only then will she have enough
skills to harness the qualities of a better violin.

Hope this helps,
Jehpin

Like his mummy, TJ has a really round face, especially at certain angles, like the above pic which is almost a perfect circle. The past few weeks has been gratifying and although it was many sleepless nights, it recharged me.

The past 2 weeks has not been total rest though. I was in and out of the workshop, developing some new products. They will surface soon. I’m also planning to launch a charity programme with iCare, a UK organisation who is in China building orphanages and schools. I am looking at sponsored painted violins and then auctioning them off with proceeds going to sponsor children to school. I plan to visit early next year to conduct the violin painting competition.

Well Christmas is approaching fast. And soon a new year will be here, and TJ’s smile tells me it will be even better.

I’ve just returned from a music fair. During the last 4 days has been very exhausting for me. The first thing after my return was to prepare for all my outstanding shipping that I had to make during the last 4 days and now that most of them are done, I can start to reply all my mails. I get about 60-80 emails a day and after the 4 days you can imagine my workload. Well, I’ve made many replies this morning and afternoon. Here’s a recent screenshot of my computer screen. I hope to complete them hopefully by 2am today, latest tomorrow. For me, no emails get unanswered.
