Dear Jehpin
The violin has arrived – today – thank you
I would like to provide some initial feedback – since I am a small violin dealer my comments are meant to be honest and helpful.
Positive:
the violin is absolutely stunning – I am totally blow away
the case is equally stunning – please tell me where it is made – I want more.
not so positive:
I believe I ordered a baroque bow as well as an upgrade to a pernambuco bow – unfortunately the baroque bow did not arrive can you check on this please – this bow is intended for my daughter who is professional . The pernambuco bow is okay but not at the level of the violin – the bow calibration (curve) is wrong most noticeable at the tip hence it is very weak at this point – the sliver finishings are superb the neck of the violin has moved down resulting in the finger board being too low – I will have to reset the neck (this I am happy to do).
I will be showing this violin to my daughter (hopefully she doesn’t steal it away from me – as I mentioned she is professional) as well I will be showing it to members of the Vancouver Symphony and professional violin makers. Despite the missing bow and the issues mentioned above I will want to order/bid again.
Your service in responding to my emails was first rate – thank you – and please let me know about the baroque bow and where these cases are made (is it China?).
Sincerely,

Robert

Hi Robert

Thanks for your feedback they help me improve my products. The bow you had was a regular pernambuco. I suggest next time you can try my top pernambuco or master sticks. These have much improved response and balance, and makes for a sweeter tone.

The cases are made in China, but the model I send you is a custom model I have asked my supplier to make for me. These specs are feedbacks from previous customers. I simply took note of them when I talk to my supplier. eg. changing some screws to better quality ones, using better YKK zippers, changing the hygrometer to ones that actually works, and linings inside the case.

Next month I will have a whole new range of cases. I think these will be some of the best cases you can buy anywhere in the world. Shops can sell them up to USD1000 each. So watchout for my cases. :)

Shall I send the baroque bow to you now urgently? Or is it ok if I send it up on your next shipment? If next shipment, I can pass on the savings by including a brazil bow together.

Regards, JP

Hi Jehpin,

we tried out the first three Vecchio violins that have arrived here, I hope the remaining ones will arrive before Wednesday next week.

Let me say that I’m delighted with the general quality of both sound and craftsmanship. The antique finish of the “old Italian” and “19th century French” models is expertly done, certainly as good as any that I’ve seen from China. You could really these are old violins. The glossier finish of the straight oil varnish is certainly less distinctive, but no less well done.

The sound character of all three violins is very similar, about what I expect of very compactly built violins with good arching of the body: sweet e-string sound, generally good projection and a characterful g-string, good balance overall. The antiqued ones have a touch of “boxiness”, which is not unlike old violins and suits the character. Violin players keep telling me that a little bit of boxy sound is more comforatble on the ear of the player. Very nice on the whole, very stable quality – I would suggest to my customers that the level is about that of experienced hobby players and advanced students. Very easy to play, too!

I’m naturally looking forward to receiving the remaining ones – and more!

Best regards, Thomas

Hi Jehpin,

I recieved the viola today. The look is good. It sounds great. What I really love is the bow. Its beautiful and plays wonderfully. In the next couple of weeks, I may be placing an order for bows, because I have several students that could use good bows like these. I Just have to discuss that with the students parents.

Have you considered making the Vecchio or Balokovic in a viola?? I would purchase that one too if one were to be made :)

Thank you !! :)

Kimberly

Hi Jehpin!

Well, my BEAUTIFUL violin arrived this afternoon! Jehpin, it is JUST EXQUISITE. I am SO pleased with it. I played it for about an hour after I unpacked it and got the bridge into place. It is the sweetest violin — it is even prettier in person. And right out of the box, it has a powerful and rich tone. I can tell that in a few months of playing regularly that it will open up nicely but it already sings beautifully. I cannot tell you how happy I am with it. The action is PERFECT — it plays with ease and it’s just a perfect fit.

I’m thrilled! And no doubt I will buy another one from you as soon as I can save up. I want to get one of those bows as well.

Please please please give my best regards and heart-felt thanks to the luthier that made this instrument. It is beautifully done. The pegs fit like a glove and it stays in tune without any problems — in the past I have had many problems with tuning pegs not fitting correctly, but these are perfect. The wood is gorgeous and the workmanship is just outstanding.

Thank you again. You do a fine business and I’m so very glad that I chose one of your violins. I will record a little audio-file in the next week or two and upload it to you.

One happy customer!!! :-)
All the best, Sandy

—–two weeks later—-

Greetings Jehpin!

I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying my violin. It is SUCH a nice instrument – in fact, it plays easier than any violin I’ve ever had due to the fine craftsmanship. I just love it and can’t say enough praise.

I haven’t had a chance yet to record the sound byte for you, but wanted to let you know that I will try to get that done over the next week or so.

I am looking forward to seeing your new inventory and plan on buying a second violin from you soon. I figure since my first one has the powerful tone, I should also get one with mellow tone so I have options for different kinds of repertoire. Maybe a Performa…

Just wanted to let you know that my beautiful violin is working out exquisitely and it is a joy to play.

Thanks again, Jehpin. Keep up the good work.

Sandy
